Recode/YouTube In 2014, a man in New Zealand named Shaun Johnson set out to prove that low-calorie foods are good for you, but he didn’t start with a keto diet.
Johnson was living with Type 1 diabetes and decided to do some research on how his body worked and how he could make his own healthy keto food.
Johnson went on to lose more than 100 pounds in the process, and he was able to start eating healthy again, thanks to a program that included a ketogenic diet and exercise.
When Johnson’s diabetes and other conditions improved, he was offered a job at the health food company Nutrigenome.
“I went out and I started working at the kitchen,” he says.
“And then a couple months later I went to the office and I was like, ‘Oh my god, I want to be a nutritionist.'”
Nutrigens, Johnson says, were a lot more like a regular job than he had ever expected.
“It was like an extra job, because you could just sit at the office all day and be productive,” he explains.
Johnson’s keto revolution has been embraced by people all over the world, including the founder of ketogenic-friendly restaurant The Nutrigeneum in San Francisco.
The restaurant, which opened last year, now employs 30 people, including Johnson, and has seen a huge increase in business.
The Nutrogeneum is also one of the first restaurants in the country to sell keto meals, a diet that offers the same nutrient density of a low-fat, low-carb diet.
As the company grows, it plans to expand its menu to include healthier options like gluten-free and vegetarian meals, which will also be available for free in the restaurant’s kitchens.
“We just feel like we’ve done a lot of good with our food, so we’re really excited about that,” says chef Joe DiNardo, who recently opened The Nutro Grocery in New York City.
DiNardos family started The NutriGrocery about 15 years ago to bring food into communities where the typical grocery store didn’t exist.
Now, he and his wife have opened their own grocery store, as well as several restaurants in Brooklyn, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
“If we can make it as easy as possible for people to have access to good food, it really does make a big difference,” DiNardi says.
The company is also planning to start selling low-sugar, keto snacks and desserts, and it recently announced that it is looking into bringing healthy food to bars.
The New York Times Magazine named The Nutricone’s Low-Calorie Foods as one of “America’s Top 100 Low-Carb Foods” in 2017, and the company has a growing list of loyal customers.
“When we started, we just had a really small kitchen and we only had six people,” says DiNando.
“But now we have 100 people working at our kitchen.
So I think that’s a big deal.”
Johnson is confident that Nutrigenes food will be available in every corner of the world.
“At this point in time, it’s a matter of when it’s available and not when it will be,” he tells Recode.
“Right now, we have to be really careful about how much people are willing to pay for the products that we offer, and also how much we’re willing to charge for the people that we have.”
The Nutrieos Low-calories, low carb, ketogenic menu includes foods like roasted turkey, oatmeal, almond milk, quinoa, and a variety of vegetables, along with breakfast cereals and snack foods like chocolate chip cookies.
There’s also a special breakfast item, a coconut coconut milk muffin, that can be purchased in the store for $1.99.
In addition to the low- carb foods, Nutriges also offers a ketone-friendly breakfast menu, as can be seen on the menu above.
If you don’t have a regular breakfast, you can always make it at home with a recipe on the website.
If, however, you want to try a ketopic diet, there are plenty of low-energy options on offer.
The nutraceuticals, which are made from a mixture of glycerol, coconut oil, and vitamins, are high in calories and protein, but low in carbs and fat.
As Johnson explains, these low-glycemic ketogenic foods are best for people with diabetes and high blood pressure.
The low-insulin diet, also known as the ketogenic approach, is a diet of foods made with natural ingredients, such as coconut oil.
In a way, it looks more like eating a ketamine, or ketogenic, drug than a regular diet.
